Beilai ARMxy SBCs: Powering smart campuses with IoT environmental monitoring, energy, and security
Case Details
With the continuous development of IoT technology, the construction of smart campuses has become an important trend in the education sector. some of forward-looking educational institution, actively introduces advanced IoT solutions to enhance its campus environmental management and safety assurance levels. Among the many IoT solution providers, Beilai Technology's ARMxy series Single Board Computers (SBCs) stood out with their excellent performance and rich features, becoming the preferred choice for this project.

Environmental Monitoring System:
Deploy temperature and humidity sensors, air quality sensors, and other devices in different areas of the campus (teaching buildings, library, playground, etc.). Select the Beilai ARMxy - BL330 SBC as the data acquisition center, whose rich serial and I2C interfaces can easily connect to various sensors.
The BL330 collects sensor data through the Modbus protocol and uses its Ethernet interface to upload the data to the campus environmental management cloud platform. Management personnel can intuitively view the environmental parameters of each area through the cloud platform and set alarm thresholds according to predefined values. For example, when the carbon dioxide concentration in a classroom exceeds the set value, the system will automatically send an alarm message to remind the administrator to adjust ventilation.
For the monitoring of campus water and electricity consumption, smart electricity meters and water meters are connected to the BL330's RS-485 interface to achieve data collection and transmission. The BL330's edge computing capabilities can analyze the collected data and generate energy consumption reports, providing data support for the formulation of energy-saving measures.
Security Monitoring System:
Install high-definition cameras in key areas such as the campus perimeter, teaching building corridors, and the playground. Adopt the Beilai ARMxy - BL370 SBC as the video processing center, whose powerful multimedia processing capabilities can support high-definition video decoding and intelligent analysis.
The BL370 can connect to cameras through network interfaces and use built-in AI algorithms to analyze video data, enabling personnel behavior recognition (such as running, gathering, etc.) and abnormal intrusion detection. Once an anomaly is detected, the system will immediately trigger an alarm and send relevant video clips to the monitoring terminals of security personnel.
For the campus access control system, use the ARMxy - BL410 SBC as the control center. The BL410's multi-interface features can easily connect to card readers, facial recognition devices, door locks, and other equipment. It supports the integration of multiple authentication methods such as card swiping, facial recognition, and fingerprint recognition. When personnel enter or leave the campus, the BL410 will quickly verify identity information and control the opening and closing of door locks based on the verification results.
The fire early warning system connects smoke sensors and temperature sensors to the ARMxy - BL340 SBC. The BL340 collects sensor data in real time, and once it detects excessive smoke concentration or an abnormal temperature rise, it will immediately issue a fire alarm signal and send the alarm information to the school's management platform and the fire department.
